Research

My research group has been devoted to the development of new chemical reaction, new methods and new strategies for the facile access and functionalization of organic boron complexes, such as BODIPY, and porphyrin analogues.

We have also investigated the strategies to finely tune the excited states, photophysical properties, optoelectronic performance, and applications of series of oligopyrrole derived functional organic dyes. Lately, my research group has been focused on:

1. The facile construction and regioselective functionalization of BODIPY derivatives and analogues, linear and macrocyclic oligopyrroles via the development of new reactions, methods, strategies, and the construction of new platform molecules.

2. Design and construct novel boron organic dyes possessing some specific optoelectronic properties for various applications, such as strong near-infrared absorption (NIR) and emission, photoactivatable, high solid (dual) state fluorescence emission, high triplet quantum yield, and thermal delayed fluorescence (TADF).

3. Develop strategies for fine tuning of the excited states of organic dyes for various specific diagnostic and therapeutic applications, such as fluorescent probes, photosensitizers, and photothermal therapy reagents.
